Additional Information

"Fans of Andre Rieu-as well as movie buffs-will be thrilled at the maestro's renditions of classic music from classic films, as well as songs from some of today's biggest hits."

"From Franco Zefferlli's 1968 definitive adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, we have the "Love Theme" that underscored the tender passion of Leonard Whiting and
Olivia Hussey's portrayals of the star-crossed lovers. Then, it's back to 1965 and Dr. Zhivago, in which Omar Sharif plays the title role as a married man in love with a political activist named Lara, played by Julie Christie, against the backdrop of the Russian revolution".

"Who can forget Celine Dion's sweeping version of "My Heart Will Go On" in Titanic, as Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet say their last farewell? A very different kind of love story involves Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in "Eyes Wide Shut", the last film by director Stanley Kubrick. After his wife confesses she's cheated, Tom goes through a bizarre sexual odyssey."

"The Walt Disney classic, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs gave us an album's worth of great songs. Here Andre plays "Heigh Ho", which the dwarfs sing as they march to and from work. In Breakfast At Tiffany's, Audrey Hepburn, as Holly Golightly, sings and strums her guitar on a fire escape, as she contemplates giving up her career as a high priced escort for true love. The song? Henry Mancini's beautiful "Moon River".

"Stiff Englishman Alan Bates finds joy in learning to dance and eat, all on a Greek Island, thanks to Anthony Quinn, who plays the title role in 1964's Zorba The Greek. In 1972, Marlon Brando had us all worried about an offer we couldn'd refuse, lest we find ourselves sleeping with the fishes, in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather, from the novel by Mario Puzo".

"Bo Derek, in slow motion, jogging down the beach in Blake Edwards' hit,"10", also starring Dudley Moore as the lucky guy who wins her love to the strains of Ravel's "Bolero." Civil War lieutenant Kevin Costar finds much in common with Native Americans and four legged carnivores in his self-directed Dances With Wolves".

"In the Thomas Crown affair, sleuth Faye Runaway goes after master thief Steve McQueen and his cohorts, all to the tune of Michel Legrand and Marilyn and Alan Bergman's "Windmills Of Your Mind." The great Julie Andrews plays Maria, who comes to take care of the Von Trapps in The Sound Of Music, filled with wonderful Rodgers & Hammerstein songs, like "Edelweiss".

"Cole Porter's last hit, "True Love", is sung by Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly, as they spoon in a row boat in the 1956 feature High Society, a remake of The Philadelphia Story. 1955's Kismet popularized Alexander Borodin's Maiden's Dance as "Stranger in Paradise." The memorable adaptation from the 1953 broadway musical went on to become hits for both Tony Bennett and the Four Aces in 1954."

"Romance" comes from the obscure Russian film Gadfly aka Ovad, scored by the great Dimitri Shostakovich. Henry Fonda proves he can play the bad guy-a very bad guy- in Once Upon A Time In The West, as he, Jason Robards and Charles Bronson struggle over the beautiful Claudia Cardinale".

Music provides the background to the unforgettable images in the movies and are often unforgettable themselves, as Andre Rieu shows here". -------Billy Vera
