At the time I got hooked on Andre, I was into ice dancing and was skating about 2-3 times a week. My favorite ice dances were the waltzes. One evening I called my mother who informed me that she was watching a show on PBS. It was a Dutch violinist and his orchestra who played a lot of the Strauss waltzes. She suggested that I turn it on because she thought I would like it. Of course, that was the understatement of the century! I became immediately hooked on Andre as he played a lot of the music that I loved skating to.

Eventually, I began to buy CD's and videos. Although my collection is not complete, it is substantial. I was fortunate to attend both of Andre's concerts in Philadelphia, in 1998 and 2000. I was lucky enough in 2000 to get very good 5th row seats. It was the most amazing concert I had ever been to! I don't remember ever leaving a concert feeling so good for such a long time. My only desire was to meet Andre in person. My wish came true on May 4, 2004. I attended the afternoon concert in Bethlehem, PA and went to the meet and greet. I finally got to stand face to face with Andre. He was as cordial as could be and I had my picture taken with him. That is a picture I will treasure forever! I also enjoyed meeting other members of the JSO and took pictures with many of them as well.

Most exciting of all, was when my picture appeared on Andre's website. It is the last picture from "Allentown" in the News section. I am standing with seven members of the JSO. I will certainly treasure the memories of the meet and greet for many years to come. The concert was incredible, too. From the 3rd row center, I could clearly see the blue of Andre's eyes, not to mention that at times the eyes were looking right into me (or so it seemed). It's not often that a musician has such an effect on people as Andre has had on me as well as many others. I hope we can all enjoy the music of Andre Rieu and the JSO for many years to come.
