Chat n Chomp  June 3 & 4 ~ 2006

Hosted by Jim & Ruth Morgan

It started with an invitation to visit Ruth Morgan for the weekend and see her new home theater.  Who could resist a nice visit with a dear friend and a brand new 106" screen to watch Andre Rieu DVDs on?  Little did I know, it would end up being an Andre Rieu weekend and we would have
not one but two Chat n Chomps!

Sunday June 4th was the 15th annual ""America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride"", a 100 mile ride around the Lake Tahoe Basin. More than 3,000 cyclists from across the country participated. The ride is also the culmination of the spring Team-In-Training/Cycle 100 fundraising program circuit for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of America.

Three members of the Team In Training from New York came to visit Ruth & Jim. The coach is
Matthew Haas, a son of one of Jim Morgan's good friends.  Matt brought with him, Event Participant, Lina Raspaolo and Event Coordinator, Shelby Ebert.  Ruth & Jim's brother in law, Zerne also joined the fun.  Everyone had a good lunch, a good chat and good time.

Imagine our surprise when Lina said she not only knew who Andre Rieu was, but used to work for his record label, then casually added she had attended his Cortona concert!!

The lunch ended all too soon as Matt, Shelby & Lina had to return to their team and finish preparing for the Tour.  The rest of us watched, yes...it's not difficult to guess....
An Andre Rieu DVD!

I felt as if I were at the concert and could not help but tap my toes, clap my hands and sway to the beat as Songs From My Heart filled the 106" screen.  This is how we were meant to watch DVDs.

The following day Ruth & I took a tour of the area and enjoyed the sunshine.  Incline Village/Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place.  The water was clear and the lake had boaters & kayaks lazily drifting by as we looked through the pine trees.  The snow capped Sierras in the distance made a perfect backdrop.

What should pull up to park next to my RIEU FAN car?  Dora & Gene Senn with their RIEU FAN car!  Soon Zerne joined us and another Chat n Chomp was on.  Ruth's now famous potato salad and Jim's BBQ skills kept everyone filled.

Gene put the Dallas concert photos to music and we enjoyed seeing them on the big screen.  Another DVD, this time Live in Tuscany brought the day to a close.

It was time to go home.  Memories and photos of the wonderful weekend allow me to travel to Incline Village anytime I wish.
